STU, in a circle of Hippies, takes a proffered pipe, and puts a LIGHTER to it, sucking away.

Flashback: EXT. ASHLAND DOWNTOWN - EARLY MORNING

Stu wanders the streets, guzzling a 40-OUNCE BOTTLE OF MALT LIQUOR.

Flashback: EXT. PARK - NIGHT

Stu snores in the grass, his glasses askew, a pack of cigarettes spilt nearby. He lays with his head near the curb of the park road, car tires zipping by in scary proximity.
